STEPHEN Graham is returning to ITV with an new explosive drama about Neo-Nazism.

With its gritty storyline, some viewers may wonder if the show is based on real-life events.

Is The Walk-In based on a true story?

The Walk-In tells the true story of how a Neo-Nazi plan to kill an MP was foiled by an inside man, activist Matthew Collins.

He is a reformed Neo-Nazi who now works as a journalist for anti-racism organisation Hope not Hate.

The drama will follow Matthew as he attempts to stop the radicalisation of young white men before it begins by running moles, or walk-ins, to far right organisations.

He does this with the goal of gaining inside information about their activities and publishing this online to expose and fracture them.

Following the 2016 murder of MP Jo Cox, Matthew received an email in March 2017 from someone claiming to be a member of a specific far-right group he had struggled to infiltrate, who alerted him to a plan to murder a second MP.

Even though the story, is real, the The Walk-In is not based on a book.

The series was written as an ITV original by acclaimed writer Jeff Pope.

The Oscar nominated and BAFTA multi award-winning screenwriter is also known for the 2018 movie, Stan & Ollie.

The Walk-In brings with it a star-studded cast.

The line-up for the new ITV drama includes:

When is The Walk-In on TV?

The Walk-In will kick off on ITV next Monday (October 3, 2022) at 9pm.

The show will air over five weeks, concluding on October 31, 2022.
