ITV This Morning bosses planning ‘seismic’ shake-up after presenter feud

ITV bosses could axe presenter Phillip Schofield amid a “seismic” shake-up of hosts. 

Industry insiders believe the presenter, who has been a channel stalwart since 2002, could face the chop as part of a summer shuffle.

The Sun reports This Morning boss Martin Frizell could also be in line for the axe. It comes as channel executives are reportedly planning a major overhaul of the flagship show.

The paper does however claim insiders believe popular co-presenter Holly Willoughby will remain safe. 

A source said: “This Morning is preparing for some seismic changes this summer — and Phil is lined up as the first major name for the chop when his contract expires this summer. It’s highly unlikely he’ll be back in September.”

The source says plans are currently being “drawn up” that don’t include the 61-year-old presenter. With many people reportedly feeling it is time to bring “some fresh blood” into the This Morning line-up.

It comes as Phil and Holly are reportedly “feuding” off-screen. 

A source told the Daily Mirror, Holly is struggling to cope with the situation and has “contemplated quitting the show”. “By removing herself from the situation she could protect herself better,” the source began.

Phil and Holly have presented the popular daytime TV show together since 2009. The duo were first paired up together however for Dancing on Ice.

Together, they have been an on-screen hit, amassing 12 National Television Awards. Their relationship was said to be so close they holidayed together.

The Express has previously reached out to ITV to comment on their pair’s relationship.
