James Martin has been told off by ITV as he's accused of bullying and intimidating crew.

Deadline has reported that the commercial broadcaster received a complaint in May from some of his closest colleagues.

The outlet claims that TV chef has been told that he must change his behaviour after concerns were raised during filming of James Martin’s Spanish Adventure.

James, 51, was accused of berating members of the crew and reducing people to tears in front of other colleagues, whilst also opting for last minute schedule changes, which reduced sleeping hours for the production team.

The outlet also reports that he arrived an hour late to filming commitments as one source told the publication: "What’s remarkable is I saw this behaviour on every project I did with him and it feels conscious."

They added: "I think he just feels like it’s OK to behave like that."

The complaint has handed over to Katie Rawcliffe, ITV's Head of Entertainment who later approached the presenter and his agent.

She requested an independent investigation and report into the incident as well as evidence for the processes surrounding how complaints can be made by team members.

It has been reported that this is the second time ITV has been made aware of his behaviour, when he apparently launched a foul mouthed tirade in 2018.

He allegedly spoke badly to crew during filming at his home during the production of James Martin’s Saturday Morning when a drain was blocked.

However, according to Deadline the broadcaster does not have record of the incident as they were only made aware through "informal channels".

The publication also states that fresh questions are raised about the organisation's handling of top talent and misconduct claims made against them.

The Daily Star previously revealed shocking details about Phillip Schofield's "bullying" behaviour at This Morning where he was accused of calling staff 'thick' and hurling cue cards by whistle-blowing staff.

He was also accused of being "controlling" behind the scenes and would allegedly make staff cry if there were any hiccups on-screen.

One source said claimed: “Phillip was very particular with briefs, he hated it when anyone used the word ‘kids’ instead of children, or ‘celebs’ instead of celebrities in his briefs or when things were underlined too much.

"He’d get really annoyed! He would shout and he’d refuse to read them altogether or get people to redo them.

"Considering you could be writing briefs last minute, or working until half one or two in the morning – that’s a lot of added work for someone.

Following this, an ITV Spokesperson said: "At ITV people and their welfare are our highest priority.

"The production companies who make shows for us have primary responsibility for the duty of care of everyone they work with, both on and off screen.

"We make clear our expectations in this regard as part of our pre-greenlight duty of care processes. This includes having appropriate independent controls in place to enable everyone who works on their shows to confidently and confidentially raise concerns."

The broadcaster added: "Following a complaint we received in May from members of the Blue Marlin production team about the filming of James Martin’s Spanish Adventure, we contacted Blue Marlin to discuss these concerns and to understand how the issues raised were being addressed and what actions were being taken.

"As a result, we made a number of recommendations for Blue Marlin to implement as soon as possible, sharing best practice of some of our own relevant procedures around staff welfare and reiterating our Supplier Code of Conduct."

The Daily Star has also approached James Martin's representative for comment.
