Jayde Adams applauded for ‘inclusive’ message after Strictly Flashdance routine

There was no better way that Strictly Come Dancing’s Movie Week could have ended than with Jayde Adams’ performing an homage to Flashdance with her partner Karen Hauer.

Jayde’s efforts definitely paid off with her sensational performance, as judge Motsi Mabuse praised her for spreading the message that dancing is ‘inclusive’ for everybody, no matter their body shape or size.

During tonight’s episode of the BBC competition, the couples delivered routines to films ranging from The Little Mermaid to Dirty Dancing, Jurassic Park and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Comedian Jayde and Karen paid tribute to the 1983 film Flashdance, which starred Jennifer Beals as Alex, an aspiring dancer who works at a steel mill.

The duo took to the dancefloor in matching black leotards, sparkling with every twist and turn as the band exuberantly played Flashdance… What a Feeling.

When the dance came to an end – with Jayde lying back on a chair just like Alex does in the film with glitter raining down upon her instead of water – judges Motsi and Shirley Ballas were on their feet clapping.

Another fan revealed how happy the dance made them feel, penning: ‘OMG… Jayde .. living all our best lives right there in that dance. I can’t stop smiling.’

Strictly Come Dancing returns next Saturday at 6.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
