Jayde Adams moves Strictly viewers with body positive message in Flashdance routine

Jayde Adams moved Strictly Come Dancing viewers with her body positive message during rehearsals for her Flashdance performance with Karen Hauer.

The pair were the last to perform this week, Saturday 8 October, and did a Cha Cha Cha to What A Feeling from the well-loved 80s cult classic.

Jayde, 37, said this week was about “showing dancers come in all shapes and sizes” as the pair donned matching glittery leotards and knee-high black boots – scoring 29.

Motsi Mabuse said: “Thank you so much for that moment, I think it is beautiful to show that dancing is inclusive for everyone. You make me proud. Keep up the work.”

Craig Revel-Horwood said: “I loved all the quotations from the movie, brilliant work.”

Head judge Shirley Ballas added: “Your personality is just fantastic, what a way to close the show.”

In a VT ahead of their dance, the comedian candidly shared: “This week for me is all about showing that dancers come in all different shapes and sizes. You don't have to look a certain way to make people feel happy.

"Two women with very different physiques, dancing together and nailing it."

Following their fantastic performance, Jayde’s fans were quick to gush over her on social media.

“So emotional watching Jayde. What a powerful message to send to everyone who has ever been made to feel like they shouldn't or couldn't just because they didn't fit a certain mould,” wrote one viewer.

Another added: “Jayde is having the time of her life. Her positivity is so infectious,” as someone else labelled their dance as “joyful”.

“Jayde living her best life and thankfully taking us on the journey,” said another Strictly fan.

Ahead of Jayde and Karen’s performance was Tony Adams’ – and he sent both viewers and the judges wild with his The Full Monty routine.

Tony stripped down to a pair of glittery red football shorts and pink socks as he danced the samba to You Sexy Thing from The Full Monty.

The former England footballer and his professional partner Katya Jones “brought the roof down” at the Strictly studio as the audience cheered and clapped, co-host Tess Daly said.

Motsi Mabuse said: “Let me watch it again please! Samba is maybe something else but entertainment value it has to be a 10.”

Shirley Ballas added: “You do have a good pelvic roll – I love the glitterball underwear, you entertained, but it wasn’t exactly a samba.”

Anton Du Beke went on: “I reckon if I was still a professional dancer I’d be with you. It’s everything Strictly Come Dancing is and you are amazing, well done.”

Craig Revel-Horwood added: “Oh Em Gee.”
