Dame Joan Collins, 89, gave her view on the Royal couple and didn’t hold back from letting Good Morning Britain viewers know exactly what she thought of them. Chatting to Susanna Reid on the ITV show, the actress and author was questioned about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry when she replied: “Who could that be?” and asked if they needed more air time.

After quizzing Joan about a potential role as Wallis Simpson, Susanna remarked: “Any other comment to make on any other Duchess at the moment?”

“Who could that be?” Dame Joan asked. “I have no idea. Do we need to give them anymore oxygen?”

Susanna continued: “She’s over at the moment,” with the actress surprised: “Oh really? I haven’t had a chance to read up.”

The host added: “She’s taken exception to being called a diva by Mariah Carey.”

“Oh really? I think it’s rather nice being called a diva, now and then,” Dame Joan stated. “It’s supposed to be a compliment.”

Meghan and Harry are currently in the UK and heading to Manchester for the first of two charity events.

They will be in the UK and Germany for their charities and Meghan has also recently launched her podcast, Archtypes.

Meanwhile, on Good Morning Britain, Dame Joan recalled how she followed Marlon Brando’s footsteps when there was a mix-up with her scripts on smash hit musical Tomorrow Morning.

She explained: “I said, ‘those aren’t the lines!’ Meanwhile, the whole crew is setting up the lights and it was all done.

“They said, ‘What?’ and we compared our scripts, he said, ‘That’s not the lines, didn’t you get the new script?’

“I said, ‘No!’ and he said, ‘We sent it to your people – they always call them people.

“I said, ‘You mean my agent?’ and I said, ‘Well, what am I going to do?’

“And he said, ‘Well what about you do a Marlon Brando. Have the lines put on.

“So the props people lashed around and wrote all these lines on huge pieces of whiteboard.

“They stuck them on various prop people and lighting people all over the set.

“The only problem was, it was a very windy day.

“And we were shooting on the top floor of a building – it was a penthouse.

“And everything was like rolling around, and I’m trying to see it – it is an actor’s worst nightmare. But anyway, I hope it came out alright!”

Susanna replied: “It came out brilliantly, you’re terrific! I love that, you were basically sent a completely different script which you’d committed to memory and then you were told those aren’t the lines!”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
