Josie Gibson’s biggest trial – ‘She’s nervous over I’m A Celebrity and will miss Reggie lots’

She won the hearts of the nation when she was crowned winner of Big Brother in 2010 and Josie Gibson is set to do it all over again in this year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.

But while the This Morning host will keep fans entertained with her bubbly, girl-next-door persona, a source has told new Josie is feeling anxious about leaving her five-year-old son Reggie.

The source said, “Josie’s very nervous about doing the show. She knows this is a prime opportunity. Most people who go on that show come out of it with more credibility and even more fans, and that’s only going to help the viewing figures on This Morning when she’s back in the hot seat. But she’s going to miss Reggie really badly. He’s always by her side.”

They added that this opportunity will be a “career high” for Josie, who’s seen her popularity soar in recent months since she stepped in for Holly Willoughby on the ITV daytime show.

“This gig will propel Josie to being the most popular girl on the box. She hates bugs and creepy crawlies, so this will be tough on her. It’s completely out of her comfort zone, but she’s doing this to open doors for her and Reggie in the future.”

Josie, 38, shares Reggie with her ex Terry. The pair split when Reggie was three months old, but have maintained a good relationship and continue to co-parent Reggie.

Josie explained, “I’m in a fortunate position because for a lot of mums out there, the dads aren’t always there for their kids, but he is there 100%. Terry has him two or three nights a week and then I’ll have him on the others. I would never have been able to do what I’ve done if it wasn’t for Terry.”

Josie has been open about embracing parenthood and having “so much fun” with Reggie.

“People think when you have kids it’s all over, but it’s not. My career kicked off when Reggie was six months old, and you’ve just got to bring them in with the fun. We go to festivals and we dance non-stop. He loves it,” she said.

“He’ll always be my baby boy. He still sleeps in bed with me. I want him in there forever. How would I fit a relationship in, because I can’t bring someone else into my bed – that’s where my Reggie sleeps and will do until he’s 18!”

Rumours of Josie’s I’m A Celeb signing first began to circulate back in the summer, with the presenter reportedly offered a six-figure mega deal to appear on the reality show, which bosses are said to only offer to the biggest stars.

And last week, her This Morning co-star Rylan Clark appeared to confirm the whispers. At the end of their four-day stint as hosts, he turned to Josie and thanked the bubbly Bristolian for keeping him company. “Good luck… with everything,” he said, before giving Josie a hug.

Josie admitted in September she would be the “worst campmate in the world”. She explained, “A spider crawled out of my sofa a couple of months ago and after that I didn’t sit on it for eight weeks. I had to get my brother, who lives 20 minutes away, to come and sort it out.”
