Kathy star Gillian Taylforth teases friendship in EastEnders – and big feud | The Sun

KATHY Beale has built strong friendships during her years in Albert Square.

And according to EastEnders actress Gillian Taylforth, one resident could be one of her biggest allies yet as a new feud may be brewing.

Betrayal is rife in Albert Square but through it all, many of its residents have grown a close circle on which they can rely.

Prince Albert owner Kathy Beale has most notably formed bonds with Sonia Fowler (played by Natalie Cassidy) and Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) among many others.

However, during a chat with The Sun and other press, Gillian revealed there is a chance for her and Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) to get chummy after a handful of BBC One viewers noticed both women getting along.

"They start to become good friends", Gillian teased, "and that's what Harriet and I wanted."

While they may not be "the best of pals", both women will definitely be friendly with one another.

And Cindy Beale's surprise return from the dead to Walford may be what they need to get closer.

"I think Elaine and I, Kathy and Elaine are slightly sort of relatively age wise (on the same) line."

"There could be a good a friendship there and I certainly think it's someone that she could go to with their problems with Cindy."

Cindy Beale was recently revealed to be alive after being "killed" off-screen in prison.

Joining the witness protection scheme due her former cell mate threatening her life, Cindy took on an alias, Rose – and went on to marry George Knight, Elaine Peacock's future husband.

Cindy aka Rose walked out on George and their two daughters nine years ago, around the same time her daughter Lucy Beale had been killed by her young half-brother Bobby.

After running away, Cindy reconnected with former husband (and Kathy's son) Ian Beale, despite their VERY troubled marriage.

While Cindy is due for an explosive reunion with Kathy, the businesswoman has yet to find out the blonde bombshell wasn't the only one who tried to murder Ian.

In late 2020, Ian Beale was over the moon when his childhood sweetheart Sharon Watts agreed to marry him.

But when she found out he was involved in her son Denny's tragic death, Sharon opted for revenge by poisoning Ian and potentially putting him off spaghetti carbonara for the rest of his life.

Questioned about a potential feud between Kathy and Sharon if the former was to find her ex-daughter-in-law's action pushed Ian to leave the Square altogether, Gillian admitted nothing was impossible.

"Possibly that could be, because it was all down to her",the actress responded, realising the storyline had never been done before.

"That may well come out in the future and if that does, that'd be a very interesting storyline."
