Kaye Adams has admitted she's "gutted" after being axed from Strictly Come Dancing in last night's tense dance off with Bros star Matt Goss.
In a video statement posted to social media on Monday, Kaye, 59, who appears in a soft navy blue dressing gown said: "So I have finally surfaced after the craziest weekend imaginable."
She adds: "Obviously I'm gutted at myself in that I panicked in that dance off. I just panicked. I've seen a few comments saying I looked like a rabbit in the headlights, and they're right."
Kaye continued: "So that is really annoying. Kai (Widdrington) tried so hard to say 'come on we can do this' and I just wasn't able to bring it. So I do regret that. But I do not regret signing up for Strictly despite my early exit."
She concluded: "I've learned so many things and met so many wonderful people that I will definitely come out of this stronger."
Despite appearing emotional today, Kaye was spotted in good spirits following the show on her way back to her hotel with Ellie and comedian Jayde Adams.
She posted to social media last night: "Well it was a much shorter journey than I'd hoped for but a journey all the same!"
She added: "While right now I'm kicking myself for not having performed as well as I could have, at the same time I do feel proud for having jumped in with two left feet into something a couple of years ago I would have run the other mile from.
"I'll be talking more about my experience on @bbcstrictly It Takes Two tomorrow and on the How To Be 60 podcast when I've had more time to process it all, but right now I want to say a massive thank you to the whole Strictly family – the pro dancers, my fellow performers and the whole production crew – but most of all to @kaiwidd."
She added: "You were an absolute gent the whole way through and made me realise that my two left feet could be turned into dancing ones. I'm just sorry we didn't get to dance together longer.
"And with that to all my amazing fellow Strictly dancers, there's only one thing left to say…. Keep Dancing!!!!"
Her Strictly co-stars rushed to comment with pro-dancer Jowita Przystal writing: "Gutted you guys are amazing."
And dancer Nadiya added: "So sad to see you go @kayeadamsofficial. Thank you for always being kind and so supportive. You are a superstar."
Fellow contestant Ellie Simmonds commented: "Kaye, I'm so sad to see you leave. It's been amazing watching your dancing journey and spending time with you. Thank you ever so much for always being there for a chat and for being someone to lean on. I'm going to miss you greatly."
Kaye was the first celebrity to be voted off Strictly Come Dancing 2022 after losing the dreaded dance-off to Bros star Matt Goss.
The Loose Women presenter found herself in the bottom two with Matt, 54, after the first public vote of the series, and it was a three-to-one decision from the judges.
Kaye was paired with Strictly pro Kai Widdrington, 27, whilst Matt is dancing with Nadiya Bychkova, 33.
After Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse voted for Kaye to go home, it was Anton Du Beke's vote that sealed her fate, although head judge Shirley Ballas said she would have chosen to save Kaye and send Matt home.
Speaking on the show last night (October 2), Kaye said: "It was the right result and I did make mistakes, and when it comes to that high-pressured situation that’s what happens.
"So I am delighted for Matt and Nadiya, the only person I am just sorry for is this wonderful man [Kai Widdrington], who has just been so brilliant…
"It was a hell of a lot of fun, I said my ambition was to learn to love to dance, and actually I have seen a whole new side to myself, it’s opened a little door.
"It’s been a wonderful experience and to spend time with such talented people who love the show so much has been a joy."
