Loose Women’s Kaye Adams health update after fears she ‘couldn’t do’ her job

Loose Women star Kaye Adams needs hearing aides in both her left and her right ear.

The BBC Radio Scotland presenter appeared on Friday's edition of the ITV panel show (July 22) where she was seen getting her ears tested by a consultant in an emotional VT.

During the programme, the journalist opened up on the moment she knew she needed to get her ears tested after fearing she could no longer do her job.

During the VT, Kaye opened up about her struggle with loss of hearing as she recalled not being able to hear a speech when others could hear it, which led to fears she couldn't do her job.

Whilst speaking to the doctor, Kaye opened up about the watershed moment that scared her where she knew she had to do something to combat the loss of her hearing.

The 59-year-old said: "I was hosting a conference. And it was taking questions from the floor and I was on a stage. And so there was a guy at the back who had a question. So he stood up and spoke."

Kaye continued: "I looked at everyone else on the stage, and I expected that they would also think, you know, could you speak up, please, but they all understood him perfectly. I thought, oh, dear, you know, this really is a problem."

She added: "You know, I mean, I can't do my work if I can't hear, you know, so that that was scary, actually."

After speaking with the consultant and getting her ears tested, it was revealed the former The Wright Stuff panelist would indeed need hearing aides in both her left and right ears, despite only thinking she needed help hearing in her right side.

Even though Kaye appeared visibly shocked by the news and whilst the presenter had previous misconceptions about the aides, she was happy to have gotten to the bottom of her problem.

Speaking in a piece to camera at the end of the rape, Kaye explained: "I went in there thinking that needing a hearing aid would be some kind of failure. But talking to Faraz it's completely changed my mind because actually it's not about life closing down. It's about life totally opening up."

She added: "Being able to hear and be part of the social situation, rather than sitting there embarrassed that you might be having a hearing aides … I am actually quite excited about it."

Back in the studio, the presenter appeared reflective to her fellow panelists which included Katie Piper, 38, Carol McGiffin, 62 and 49-year-old actress Sunetra Sarker.

"I had kind of geared myself up for one because I knew that this ear [left ear] was really bad, but I don't know why I found it so shocking, to the point he said two".

When asked by Katie Piper if the aides made a difference Kaye replied: "It was. I mean when he switched it on, it was like – Oh there is a real discernible difference."
