Lorraine Kelly was forced to apologise to ITV viewers on Monday (26 September) when she made a awkward blunder on air.

"Project, even. So I'll see you at 9 o'clock."

A bemused Ed asked: "What is this product?"

Giggling, Lorraine said: "It's a project, not a product.

"I'm sorry. I've had a very heavy weekend and I apologise, profusely."

Not wanting to let the subject drop Ed asked the chat show host what she had been up to.

Lorraine replied: "Honestly, a young man like you doesn't want to know. You'd be shocked."

However viewers soon found out what the star had been up to as Lorraine kicked off her show by talking to TV medic Doctor Amir Khan who commented on how tired Lorraine looked.

Lorraine told him: "I may or may not have been partying all weekend," she told the telly medic.

"My lovely Rosie threw us a totally surprise anniversary party.

"So many people were there and I had absolutely no idea. It was lovely with all the attention to detail.

"She had flowers that were used from my bouquet 30 years ago.

"But it went on.. John Kelly, no relation, but he's like my big brother… he threw us another party yesterday.

"You know when you've got loads of booze left and you don't know what to do? So you have another one.

"It was great, really good."

Later on the show Lorraine was left gobsmacked when a royal author made a claim that Meghan Markle wanted to be the "Beyoncé of the UK" after she met Prince Harry.

In the book, a former Palace insider alleged: "I think Meghan thought she was going to be the Beyoncé of the UK.

“Being part of the Royal Family would give her that kudos.

“What she discovered was that there were so many rules that were so ridiculous she couldn’t even do the things she could do as a private individual.”

Offering his opinion on the matter, royal editor Russell Myers said: "I think it means something about the star power, doesn't it? To be noted for being the main person in the room, but it didn't go to plan. The wheel's came off and we are where we are now."
