Lorraine Kelly reflects on ‘uncomfortable’ Russell Brand moment from 2007

Lorraine talks about meeting Russell Brand on the Graham Norton Show in 2007

Lorraine Kelly recalled an interaction with comedian Russell Brand from 2007 which she admitted makes her feel “uncomfortable”.

The presenter showed viewers a clip from The Graham Norton Show where both she and Russell appeared as guests, and the latter felt her knee before making suggestive remarks.

“I usually got the charmingness of Russell, the flirty Russell,” Lorraine explained as she talked about the latest in the situation.

“Of course it’s different, I’m a lot older, I’ve been doing this for a long, long time.

“There was, I like to think, a little tiny bit of respect there, maybe.

“Although… this happened on The Graham Norton Show. Now it was back in 2007, but have a look.”

The clip showed Russell touching Lorraine’s leg before commenting: “Are you wearing suspenders? Jesus,” before going on to say: “Yes, I have been in other films but it doesn’t seem so important now that I know Lorraine Kelly’s a s***.”

“Now look, that’s uncomfortable to watch, it absolutely is,” Lorraine stated.

“Obviously for the record, I was not wearing suspenders at all…”

Russell has denied claims of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse at the height of his fame in a statement he uploaded on social media via video.

He stated: “Amidst this litany of astonishing, rather baroque attacks are some very serious allegations that I absolutely refute.

“These allegations pertain to the time when I was working in the mainstream, when I was in the newspapers all the time when I was in the movies, and as I’ve written about extensively in my books, I was very very promiscuous.

“Now during that time of promiscuity, the relationships I had were absolutely, always consensual.

“I was always transparent about that then, almost too transparent, and I’m being transparent about it now as well, and to see that transparency metastasized into something criminal, that I absolutely deny, makes me question, is there another agenda at play?
