Love Island fans have blasted the reunion show for happening too soon to the final, which aired less than a week ago while calling for the show to feature "messy breakups".

With the ITV2 reality-dating show coming to a head last week (Monday, August 1), the islanders reunited on Thursday – just three days after Ekin-Su and Davide were crowned winners – for a reunion.

Filmed on Thursday, August 4, the reunion sees the cast of the 2022 series reunite for a discussion about the show, while they reminisce over their time in the villa.

But fans think the reunion show is "too close" to the final, and that there needs to be a longer period of time from them exiting the villa to meeting back up.

"Airing a reunion when the show ended less than a week ago is such an odd choice… should wait a few months once they’ve all broken up and started slagging each other off in public #LoveIsland," penned one viewer.

Another added: "They needed to wait at least 2 weeks before this reunion #LoveIsland."

"Idk why they did this loveisland reunion so soon. Like they just arrived back. The reunion should have been in like two weeks or something," echoed a third.

While a fourth person went on to add: "How can it be a 'reunion' when they were only apart for four days? They should’ve filmed this 4 weeks after – let it marinate, let them watch the show, let the messy breakups happen. #LoveIsland."

"This reunion is dead .. should’ve given it till Christmas at least #loveisland," said another viewer.

To which someone replied with: "Exactly and we’ve been saying this but this year they decided to film 2 days after they landed and you can tell they’re all tired and sleep deprived esp Dami #LoveIsland."

The Love Island reunion saw the islanders reunite and Andrew Le Page's titgate relived all over again.

Meanwhile, Tasha Ghouri confirmed that she and her boyfriend Andrew had progressed in their relationship, with them having had "the full set" since exiting the villa in fourth place.
