Love Island fans pointed out a rather disgusting detail as Davide Sanclimenti was cooking for the rest of the Islanders on Tuesday night’s episode.
The Italian contestant was whipping up a tasty meal following the villa’s talent show and had proceeded to chop ham on a chopping board for his famous carbonara dish — when viewers noticed something moving across it.
Whilst distracted by his most recent bust-up with partner Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu after the talent show, Davide, 27, failed to spot an ant making a run for it across the chopping board.
Eagle-eyed viewers who did catch the insect during the cooking session, were left horrified, and fans jumped on Twitter immediately after the scene to give their shocked reactions.
One person exclaimed: "DID ANYONE ELSE SEE THAT ANT CRAWL ACROSS DAVIDE'S CHOPPING BOARD."
Another disturbed fan wrote: “Dear lord Davide hacking up that ham was stomach-turning enough and then he goes and slaughters an ant to add to the mix.”
“Did anyone else see AN ANT walk across that chopping board?!! I'm about to literally gag,” a third asked, as someone else joked: "Davide adding in some extra protein in the form of an ant for Ekin-Su. Hideous.”
One viewer insisted that Davide resign from his post as the villa cook, as they tweeted: "Nah, Davide shouldn't be the chef in the villa after missing seeing an ant crawl around his food.”
Another teased: "Wonder who that Ant wants to couple up with. Probably got his eyes on Ekin.”
Despite having had a dispute at the time of the ant’s appearance, Davide and Ekin-Su, 27, soon made up following their row and their talent show issues were forgotten.
The pair recently made their relationship exclusive, after Davide treated Ekin-Su to another dish of tiramisu with a sweet chocolate message written.
The couple are favourites to win this series when the Love Island final reaches on 1 August.
Days ago, Ekin-Su spoke to Tasha Ghouri about her future children with Davide and her travel plans with him, as she said: “This place is magical. If we have kids I want to take them here.” Tasha replied: “Oh my god it’d be like, ‘This is where I met your dad!’”
Ekin-Su then said: “Oh stop, you’re going to make me cry!” as Tasha laughed and added: “Why are we crying right now?”
