Love Island: Jess and Sammy are announced as 2023 winners
Love Island has been hit with over 1,000 complaints over its final week which saw Jess Harding and Sammy Root crowned winners of the 2023 series.
913 complaints first came after Mitchel Taylor’s treatment of Abi Moore which left viewers concerned for her welfare, with the couple’s relationship being bitter and spiteful at times.
Another 219 complaints came from viewers who objected to the final result, with many wanting Whitney Adebayo and Lochan Nowaki to win.
Mitchel and Abi first met in Casa Amor and immediately hit it off with one another, after Mitchel failed to find a connection after three weeks in the villa.
When Scott van der Sluis was left single, he also set his sights on Abi and made it clear that he wanted to get to know her, with her reciprocating his feelings.

However, they were soon ripped apart and the drama began once bombshell Ella Barnes stormed into the villa and set her sights on Mitchel, causing his head to turn.
The pair ended up splitting, with arguments and whispers being thrown around for the next two weeks they were in there, causing Mitchel to treat both Abi and Ella disrespectfully.
Each night Abi would be upset over something Mitchel had said or done towards her, which left viewers concerned for her welfare and begging producers to remove her from the villa.
Viewers took to their Twitter, with @QueenInfidel noting: “Poor Abi. She was painted to be excessive. Meanwhile, no one knew how badly Mitch had been treating her. #loveIsland.”

Elsewhere, the other complaints came from Jess and Sammy being crowned the winners of the show, with many viewers claiming the result was rigged.
ITV revealed that Jess and Sammy won the public vote with 35 percent of the vote, with Whitney and Lochan following closely behind with 27 percent.
Ella Thomas and Tyrique Hyde received 24 percent of the public vote leaving Molly Marsh and Zachariah Noble in fourth place with 14 percent.
After Jess and Sammy were announced as the winner, viewers took to their Twitter to express their outrage at the result.

The couple had a rough journey in the villa, with Sammy making it clear that he was a player and wasn’t sure what he wanted from his time in the villa.
