Love Island viewers brand Jay as savage as he swipes Paige from Jacques

Love Island fans have called Jay Younger “savage” as he swiped Paige Thorne from Jacques O'Neill in the latest recoupling.

There was more drama in the villa on Friday evening for the latest recoupling, which saw the boys choose which girls they wanted to couple up with, potentially breaking up established couples in the process.

Jay had previously been coupled up with Ekin-Su but the pair’s relationship went into meltdown after Jay admitted he was thinking of getting to know Paige better.

As the Islanders all gathered around the fire pit together, Jay then explained his reasoning for choosing a new partner.

The 28 year old said: "I've decided to couple up with this girl because I think she's beautiful. I think she's got an amazing personality and I want to explore where things could go with her.

"So the girl I want to couple up with is… Paige."

Both Ekin-Su and Jacques looked uncomfortable at the new coupling as Paige crossed the fire pit area to give Jay a kiss on the cheek.

Viewers were outraged at the shock re-coupling with one fan writing: "Jay is a savage bye".

Another added: "Poor jacques! Jay is the biggest game playing snake in the villa. Don’t like him one little bit. Him and Paige were my winners. Let’s hope love prevails!"

A third person joked: "paige is imprisoned rn with jay.. free her up asap", while another person concluded: "Paige deserves better than jacques jay all of them tbh".

Elsewhere in the recoupling, Andrew chose to stay with Tasha, despite her recently going on a date with Charlie, and Dami coupled up with Indiyah after their previous partners were voted out of the villa earlier this week.

Now no longer with Paige, Jacques has coupled up with Danica, who previously found herself 'friend zoned' by Luca after the couple failed to make a connection.

Previews for Sunday night's episode showed Dami and Indiyah go on their first real date after they kissed during a game of truth or dare earlier this week – but will their relationship progress after they finally get to couple up together?

Love Island continues every night at 9pm on ITV2.
