Olivia Hawkins and her boyfriend Maxwell Samuda have been dumped from the South African Love Island villa after they were voted the least compatible.
After tensions grew in recent episodes and the islanders branded Jessie Wynter “fake” with her boyfriend Will Young, the islanders were whisked away to a beach party.
But the celebrations were short lived as the show’s host, Maya Jama, who took over from Laura Whitmore, arrived on the scene.
Strutting into the villa in a sensational red outfit, Maya said: “You all look like you’re having a cute little time, sorry to crash the party, could you all line up in your couples please.”
The Islanders line up as Maya goes on to explain: “I’m sure you’re all asking yourselves why I’m here, I’ve got some very important news. The public have been voting for the most compatible couple. The couples with the fewest votes risk being dumped from the Island tonight.”
After the couples were asked to line up, Maya revealed the Claudia Fogarty and Keanan Brand, Rosie Seabrook and Casey O’Gorman, Shaq Muhammad and Tanya Manhenga and Olivia Hawkins and Maxwell Samuda have received the least amount of votes.
After what seemed like a lifetime of waiting, Maya revealed that Maxwell and Olivia were being dumped, which came just moments after the couple’s conversation about making things exclusive.
But the shocks did not stop there as Maya further revealed that the other couple to be dumped would be chosen by Olivia and Maxwell, with that dumping coming in Thursday’s episode.
Reacting to the explosive ending of tonight's show, many fans took to social media and were not completely shocked by Olivia and Maxwell's sudden exit.
One person wrote: "Oi I’m proud of the British public, for once we united behind a decision and eliminated Olivia. I feel like we’ve brought the country together."
"Olivia brought the country together man ! Has to be the most disliked Islander in history… she might even be more hated than Matt Hancock & Boris … sis get to stepping!" another said, while a third added, "You just know maxwell is gonna ghost Olivia."
Others further questioned why Olivia and Maxwell, who the public dislike the most if voting is anything to go by, have been given so much power.
"I'M ACTUALLY LIIIIIIIIVIDDDDD THAT FHEY STILL GIVE OLIVIA THIS MUCH POWER," scathed one, as someone else wrote, "Up till the very end Olivia remains a producers pet. Because why does she have this power?"
