Love Island’s Gemma and ex Jacques will get back together, predicts Shaughna Phillips

Love Island's Shaughna Phillips has predicted that Gemma Owen will get back together with her ex-boyfriend Jacques O'Neill after his arrival in the Majorca villa.

The 19 year old daughter of footballing legend Michael Owen was left in shock on Sunday night's episode of the popular dating show, after her rugby player ex, Jacques, 23, entered the villa.

As he entered and Gemma saw him, she exclaimed: "Oh my god, that's my ex-boyfriend."

Gemma and Jacques dated for around eight months, and Jacques said that it was set to be awkward between the two as they hadn't spoken for a while.

Much to the dismay of Gemma's current partner, 23 year old fishmonger Luca Bish, the couple ended up having a chat to clear the air, although it seems that for the moment, Gemma's affections firmly lay with Luca.

Shaughna, 28, appeared on OK!'s Instagram Live on Monday, where she explained why she reckons Gemma and Jacques' romance isn' quite over.

She said: "Afia was talking to [Gemma] yesterday, and said 'I know it's your ex but isn't it nice to have someone in here that you're familiar with?', and that is so true. Afia hit the nail on the head there.

"I remember hearing songs [in the Winter Love Island villa] that reminded us of home, and we were like 'oh my god I remember this', so to have someone in there that you already know is like a very big deal and I think… I see them getting back together."

Shaugna continued: "I think Gemma's gonna play her cards very close to her chest, but I mean they still fancy… she [Gemma] said yesterday 'I still love him'… they definitely still fancy each other.

"I just hope, and I'm thinking very far ahead now, but I just hope that if they do get together, I hope Luca doesn't then think he can come back to Paige, because like, the girls outside [the villa] aren't having it."

Shaugna said that Luca looked "rattled" when Jacques entered the villa, adding: "I think Luca thinks he's the alpha male in the villa 100%, he's cocky, he's just like chilling, thinks he's got the pick of the bunch.

"Even when Davide came in, I think he was rattled for a few minutes, and then he still felt like he came out on top, and I think this Jacques is definitely going to change that.

"Luca doesn't know whether he's coming or going and we like to see it," she concluded.

Tonight's episode will feature the aftermath of Jacques' arrival, as Luca declares his plan to kiss Gemma. But will it work? And be enough to keep her from going back to her ex? Stay tuned to find out.
