Gemma Owen has insisted that the age gap between her and Italian hunk Davide Sanclimenti is ‘no issue’ to her, on Thursday 9 June episode of Love Island Series 8.
The 19 year old is currently in a couple with 27 year old Davide, and whilst they were having a chat in the garden, the pair discussed whether or not the age gap was an issue to them both.
Davide asked Gemma: “What do you think about the fact that I am much older than you? I mean, you are not bothered about that?”.
Gemma was quick to say that it didn’t matter, replying: “No, it’s not an issue for me at all.
“I feel like if it was then I wouldn’t have wanted to get to know you in the first place and, as I’ve said, like, I’ve been speaking to guys and seeing guys that are…”, before Davide finished her sentence, saying: “Much older than you”.
Gemma agreed, saying: “Yeah. So it’s not something, you know, that I’m not used to, or, you know, you’re the only one or anything like that,
“It’s like, it’s very normal for me, so for me it’s not an issue, but I feel like for you, is it an issue?”
Davide replied: “No, for me it’s not an issue about the age, I actually say sometimes you are more mature than me”, to which Gemma laughed and said: “Really?”
Whilst they were initially happy to be coupled up, after Davide whisked Gemma away from the clutches of 23 year old Welsh student Liam, who she was originally coupled up with, it seems that the pair are looking for love in other islanders.
New to the villa, Ekin-Su has wasted no time in getting to know the boys, first making a beeline for Davide, who she’s described as having an ‘eight-pack’.
The pair engaged in an outdoor workout, with Gemma looking on in distaste.
Gemma, however, has taken a shine to flavour-of-the-moment, Luca Bish, 23, and in tonight’s episode, she took him off for a chat, where she admitted that she fancies him.
Her feelings have been returned by Luca, who’s also expressed an interest in Tasha and new arrival, Ekin-Su, despite being coupled up with 20 year old Paige.
During their chat, Gemma admits: "I am attracted to you, I definitely would want to get to know you.”
"You stare into my eyes and I just want to stare into yours!”
Luca then admitted that he wanted to kiss the daughter of Michael Owen, who coyly replied: “Not yet”, before the show drew to a close.
