Love Island’s Jacques O’Neill already knew Cheyanne Kerr before show – but it wasn’t shown

Jacques O'Neill has revealed that he already knew Cheyanne before Love Island.

The rugby player, 23, quit the reality series last week due to feeling like he wasn't being himself in the villa. This came after him and Paige Thorne went through some drama after his behaviour with Cheyanne in Casa Amor was exposed.

Speaking to the Sun, Jacques explained that he met Cheyanne when he was 19 years old.

"Cheyanne is a lovely girl, I already knew her from when I was 19, It was weird because I wanted to date her at the time," he revealed.

Jacques shocked everyone when he decided to recouple up with Paige after Casa Amor, despite appearing to have an interest in Cheyanne.

Jacques and Cheyanne's previous relationship was not shown on the ITV2 show.

Revealing why he made his choice, he said: "I found out while I was chatting to her that nothing was going to come close to what I had with Paige. But from the moment I kissed her in bed I felt the worst I’ve ever felt in my life."

Jacques has said that he plans on working on himself after watching the Casa Amor episodes back.

The 23 year old's mother Janet has been a big support during this time and even appeared in the audience for Love Island's Aftersun show on Sunday 17 July.

She told The Sun: "During the first two weeks Jacques was so funny, I think everybody loved him.

"Then it started to change. I started to get horrible private messages on Facebook, people were saying they wished my son and I were dead, it was awful."

Janet even revealed that she had to move into her sister's house due to the abuse and would get her to text her about how the Love Island episode went, instead of watching it herself.

Just before leaving the villa, Jacques told Paige that she should "crack on" and he'll be waiting for her outside. He even suggested that he'll pick her up from the airport.

Paige was certainly distraught by Jacques's exit, however she has since been focused on her connection with 2018 islander Adam Collard, who entered the villa just days before Jacques quit the show.
