Love Island star Jacques O’Neill couldn’t resist an opportunity to throw a jab at his ex Paige Thorne and her new man Adam Collard.

It’s been weeks since Jacques, 23, decided to quit the ITV2 dating series after struggling with his mental health during his time on the show.

The professional rugby player was coupled up with Paige, 24, at the time meaning she was left single in the villa.

Series four bombshell Adam, 26, made his dramatic return to Love Island just one day before Jacques left, and soon found himself striking up a connection with Paige before recoupling together and becoming exclusive before being dumped from the villa right before the final.

Jacques told Paige that he would wait for her on the outside while she continued on with her experience, and so naturally, he’s not exactly jumping for joy about his former love’s new romance.

During an Instagram live on Sunday, Luca Bish read out a question from a fan, which read: ‘What do you think of Adam and Paige’s relationship?’

Jacques then replied sarcastically: ‘They seem to get on really well, they seem very happy together.’

Luca then chipped in and said in a mocking tone: ‘Glad the mum approves,’ to which Jacques quipped: ‘Yeah, well her mum seems really fond of Adam so you know.’

The two pals, who then burst into laughter, were referring to Paige’s mum admitting she wasn’t convinced that Adam was being genuine with her daughter in light of his former playboy ways.

During the Meet The Parents episode, the Welsh paramedic’s mum Samantha said: ‘I’m not buying it.’

She then explained: ‘The way you were with Jacques was different, with Adam it just seems a lot different.’

Jacques’ Instagram live came just a few hours before the Love Island reunion aired on Sunday night, but he was notably absent from the audience. Laura Whitmore apologised to viewers for his absence while Luca explained his friend was doing better after taking time out to focus on his mental health.

Elsewhere in the impromptu Instagram live, Jacques also mocked bombshell Remi Lambert and his rapping skills. After leaving the villa earlier in the series, Remi said he and Jacques had several arguments that weren’t aired.

Love Island is available to watch on the ITV Hub.
