MAFS UK drama spills onto Instagram as cast divided over wife swap chaos

Married At First Sight UK was full of drama on Tuesday night as Matt Murray and Whitney Hughes pursued a romance despite being partnered with other people.

Viewers will recall Matt and wife Gemma Rose, as well as Whitney and husband Duka Cav, have had a tumultuous time with their relationships on the show so far.

During a mini break in the countryside for all the couples, Whitney and Matt decided to pursue their "cute" vibe as they told their fellow partners and co-stars the news with explosive results at the show's dinner party.

And the drama has since spilled onto Instagram as the contestants have shared their thoughts and opinions over the "wife swap" ahead of more explosive scenes on Wednesday.

Gemma, who was left devastated and hurt over the news, took to her profile to share several messages of support from the likes of Thomas Hartley and Lara Eyre.

While Matt and Whitney have both defended their actions, explaining what happened and how they told their partners on the show

Sharing a video, Gemma said: "So I didn't actually watch it, I think living that day once was enough. My eyes hurt like the whole time in that experiment, I did a hell of a lot of crying.

"I always had a shoulder or two in Thomas and Adrian to cry on. So that's pretty amazing to come out with those two, I will look through everyone's messages tomorrow it's just a little bit much right now.

"But we knew we were leaving, we knew we were going to go, that wasn't my issue. My issue was if we're leaving in a day, why not wait a day? Why do it to me on TV? Thank you to all my friends."

Gemma then added video messages from fellow contestants, Lara, who left the show and partner Richie Dews earlier in the series, and Thomas, who is married to Adrian Sanderson.

In her video, Lara, who insisted MAFS UK is not a "dating show" or Love Island, said: "Gemma and Matt, the fact that Matt said I need to talk to Gemma about Whitney and I. Why is there already a Whitney and I?

"Surely, the first conversation is I don't like you enough to be in this marriage and as she should with Duka. I mean, isn't that the first conversation?"

Lara added: "It feels to me he stayed because he saw something else he liked, and that’s not right, is it?"

Gemma captioned the video with: "Was so hard to be the last person to know but that's not the group's fault. It was down to one person to tell me."

She also posted Thomas' videos, where he said: "I never knew anything because I would have been the f**king first to tell both of them and her…"

He added in a second clip: "If this doesn't give you validation of these people and their ways, did anyone see Gemma then? That is the most heartbreaking f**king thing ever, disgusting, she never once called him an ex husband!"

Meanwhile, Matt took to his Instagram to share his side of the story, saying in a video: "So have I got any regrets from last night’s episode, which I knew it would come.

"It was that production asked me not to speak to Gemma until the dinner party… and stupidly out of frustration. I listened and that was the first time I actually listened to production and did what they asked me to do.

"Bearing in mind, Gemma and I had been broke up for a week prior to this filming… we had called it a day after the commitment ceremony you watched and we agreed to be friends, then it got heated again the next day, then we didn’t speak since.

"But to put somebody in a position where they’re finding out in front of all those people in hindsight it’s f**king awful, it is absolutely awful. That bit there, regardless of whether Gemma and I were getting on, that bit there is my biggest regret of the whole production."

Although he added in a separate video that at the dinner party, it was the first time he and Gemma had spoken in six days, he said: "So I've not watched any of last night's episode.

"I don't need to watch it, I was there, I know what I experienced. I'm watching someone say they didn't know it was over but after the last commitment ceremony, we very specifically had a conversation saying we're not each other's person…"

While Whitney took part in a Q&A on her Instagram, where she claimed she told Duka prior to the explosive dinner party.

Answering a question, which read: "Did you have a chat with Duka before it all came out?" to which she replied: "That's what I found so frustrating about tonight was that it wasn't shown that Duka already knew…"

She then said they left things in an "amicable" and "nice" place, claiming: "He knew before everything happened. The minute Matthew and I had a spark, I went and told Duka.

"We had a long conversation and really nice conversation with Duka about it, he knew, Matthew and Duka also had a conversation after that. Like a bro, man-to-man conversation, Duka gave his blessing, said: 'Go ahead… there's nothing between us.'"

Adrian also took to his Instagram Story to share his thoughts, saying: "Okay, so, if Matt and Whitney want to have a relationship then fine, I mean it really wasn't Love Island but what you gonna do?"

He added: "But you should be a decent enough human being to own your s**t, he wasn't making an effort to progress his relationship with Gemma and she was, he knew it and he knew what she wanted.

"But he chose to ignore that and spend his time with Whitney and that's fine, then go tell her, go and tell her then. But he never!"

Married At First Sight UK continues at 9pm on E4.
