MAFS UK's Luke speaks out after being 'axed' from the show
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from MAFS UK 2023.
MAFS UK star Paul Brunson has defended the iconic dating series as online backlash continues.
The E4 dating series is truly a highlight in the reality TV calendar for many with hopeful singletons agreeing to marry a complete stranger, leaving their fate in the hands of experts.
As well as some adorable blossoming romances, there’s always plenty of drama to keep fans hooked and 2023 has been no exception.
Brad Skelly and Shona Manderson were kicked off due to his “toxic” behaviour”, Ella Morgan and JJ Slater were caught cheating and Luke Worley is to make his exit in upcoming scenes following a fight with Jordan Gayle.
While some have loved so much going on in the show, some have labelled the dating show a “sham”, and expert Paul Brunson couldn’t keep quiet.

Tweeting directly to the professional matchmaker, a MAFS UK fan wrote: “I just feel the whole show is a sham. They are about viewership, not relationships.”
Paul directly replied, coming to the show’s defence, but also accepted things do “need to improve”.
He commented: “I read nearly all of your comments, take notes on areas we need to improve, and share them with production as well as the channel.
“That said, I believe the show strikes a balance. MAFS UK delivers more relationships than any other dating/love show and our viewership continues to grow.
“So, do we need to do better, yes. Are we a sham? far from it.”

Another viewer responded: “Any relationship show that welcomes cheaters back as a new couple is absolutely a sham. It has ruined it this year.”
Paul did not reply directly to this comment, which refers to Ella and JJ’s infidelity, but he did previously hint he didn’t agree with them making a comeback to the show.
When a fellow fan questioned the experts’ decision to keep them on MAFS UK, Paul said: “There are people that make the decision and we don’t all agree.
“That’s all I have to say on this matter.”
The journey for this year’s husbands and wives is coming to an end with just a few more weeks until the grand finale.
The final episode of 2023 is expected to air on Thursday, November 16 but more will be on its way after this.
It has already come out that after the reunion episode, fans will be treated to an “explosive” bonus episode, with the cast reacting to some of the drama they may not have known about during filming.
MAFS UK 2023 continues Monday to Thursday on E4.
