Married At First Sight fans are convinced that fiery contestant Whitney Hughes has been placed on the series by producers as a “plant.”

The hot-headed newlywed has been hesitant to embrace the process from the start after being paired up with singleton Duka Cav.

Her attitude towards their new marriage has already garnered a lot of fan backlash for her behaviour and treatment of her partner after she refuses to try and connect with him.

As a cheating scandal has now erupted between Whitney and Matt, fans are convinced she was placed by producers to cause drama.

“I admire Whitney. If she is indeed a producer plant then she's giving it everything. I mean, you couldn't pay me enough to snog Matt,” said one viewer.

Another commented: “Completely agree. She doesn't seem to have much self-awareness.”

A third penned: “Whitney plays the role of a reality TV villain very well.”

The revelation of their secret crush came to blows on tonight’s episode over dinner after they admitted that they had discussed their chemistry together behind their partners backs.

While Thomas goes over to console Duka and Gemma, he brands Matt "disgusting" as the drama heats up.

Scenes show Whitney looking increasingly troubled as she dabs her eyes while Matt, in a black shirt, stands to address the group.

He says: "This is the first time I have actually been able to breathe and be myself.

"If Duka had been completely interested it would never have happened," he blasted.

Matt became irate as Gemma began shouting and demanding an explanation, which saw him storm off from the table.

Whitney soon followed and the pair began kissing on the bridge, saying they wanted to pursue their relationship together.

Fans took to social media to react: “Matt talking to Whitney "I want to kiss your head off" absolutely vile pair & they better not be allowed to continue as a couple,” blasted one viewer.

Another defended the pair, saying they had every right to pursue their feelings. “To be fair Whitney and Matt seem to be handling the situation in a decent way.

“Not hiding and ready to talk about what's going on with them. It's not ideal but it's not like either of them had any interest in the person they were matched with.”
