MAFS viewers slam new bride Porscha as she says it would be sad to have a ‘broke’ groom

Married At First Sight UK viewers have turned against new bride Porscha Pernelle after she said it would be “sad” if her groom was “broke”.

The reality TV hopeful, 36, was paired with youth worker and DJ Terence Edwards, but the public think the pair could be headed for heartbreak.

Porscha admitted on the show – which has recently been branded a "sham" – that she was in search of a man who could “look after” her, explaining: “It would be great to have a man who is happy to go out to work and happy to come home and have his dinner on the table.”

Porscha, who works as an Executive Assistant, added: “Oh my god, could you imagine if he’s broke? That would be sad, especially if he’s got no ambition to be richer because I’m not going to be the bloody breadwinner and let him stay at home and be my missus. No!”

She even explained that she would “block” a date if they “suggested we split the bill” – and that they’d never hear from her again.

However, some viewers at home weren’t exactly impressed by Porscha’s demands.

“Porscha just needs to say I don’t want a job,” one fan joked on X, formerly known as Twitter, while another branded her “awful” and called on the mum of three to “reconsider” how she views men.

“Bet she wouldn’t stand a woman treating her son like she intends to treat her future husband,” the viewer added. However, others rushed to Porscha’s defense and insisted that it was “her right” to have whatever standards she pleased.

“Porscha is definitely going to be seen as an “angry black woman”, just for having high standards and high self-esteem,” one viewer said online.

Others just questioned the experts’ decision to match her with Terence, calling the choice “a recipe for pure entertainment and chaos” and describing the pair as “obviously totally incompatible.”

Fans highlighted the fact that Porscha says she hasn’t been clubbing since she was at University, while Terence still works as an MC several times a week.

Porscha also doesn’t drink, which Terence didn’t seem to take too kindly to during their wedding – despite the fact that a past contestant admitted the producers don't allow much boozing anyway.

“I’m a party boy,” Terence explained, as he said he hoped his future wife would “match his energy.”

Porscha, meanwhile, says she was “drinking a lot” before she stopped entirely and dedicated her life “to Christ.”

“She’s sleeping by 11pm,” Terence said, after awkwardly offering his wife a drink she hastily declined. “I’m not sure this is going to work.”
