Money saving expert Martin Lewis joined Susanna Reid to present Monday morning’s edition of the ITV show Good Morning Britain. The show was largely centered around the cost of living crisis, with Martin giving helpful tips to worried members of the public. Former politician Edwina Currie joined the presenters to discuss the current crisis and left Martin shocked as she revealed her “easy” money-saving tips.
Taking the reigns of the debate and giving one of her suggestions to save money during the crisis, Edwina said: “Here is a tip, something that is dirt cheap.
“Martin knows about this sort of thing, if you put some of this behind your radiators, it really works, it makes the whole room nice and warm,” holding up some foil-lined insulating.
Pleased with her suggestion, she continued: “And it means you can turn down your thermostat without it causing you any more discomfort.
“Martin, Susanna most people my age have lived in houses without central heating but we are dependent on it now.
“Just that kind of little thing makes such a difference, moving the sofa away from the radiator, you don’t want to be heating the sofa, you want to be heating the room.”
As Edwina was proudly explaining the ways she saves money, Martin seemed to have given up, as he threw his pen down on the desk and placed his head in his hands.
Viewers of the interaction also picked up on Martin with his head in his hands and took to Twitter to laugh at the moment.

During the conversation, Edwina clashed with Martin after he called the cost of living crisis a catastrophe.
When talking about what she felt people needed to do, Edwina said: “Not get emotional about it to the exclusion of using some common sense, sit down and think about what we can all do.
“Whether that is in our businesses or in our homes, not everybody can I accept that but many of us can do something and when we can that helps everybody else.
“We really have to be cool and calm, panic and emotion drain the energy whereas what we need to do is conserve the energy and use it well.”
Martin his back and exclaimed: “Surely, that is a catastrophe?” however she wasn’t impressed and clapped back: “It doesn’t help using words like that.”
Explaining his point further, Martin continued: “You can’t ignore the rising bills, that is what the catastrophe is, it’s not my language, it is the practice of what is happening.
“It is not for me to debate it, I am shutting up now.”
