Martin Lewis slams Coronation Street as cost of living crisis hits soap | The Sun

MARTIN Lewis was left fuming over the increased prices at Roy's Rolls café in Coronation Street.

Much like the rest of the UK, the ITV soap has been hit by the cost-of-living crisis.

Viewers couldn't help but notice the café owner Roy (played by David Nelson) has hiked prices.

Pie with chips and mushy peas has increased from £2.60 to £5.50 in just four months, which is an inflation-busting increase of 112%.

Corrie fans were left fuming and took to Twitter to share their disgust.

One said: "Rampant profiteering."

He replied to a Corrie fan who wrote: "Inflation is real. Roy Cropper has had to put up the price of Pie, Chips & Mushy Peas by 112% in the last 3 months. #CostOfLivingCrisis."

The ITV presenter tweeted: "I’m very disappointed in my ITV colleague Roy. If he keeps this up, he'll come a cropper.”

However, despite the increased prices, the restaurant is still proving to be a popular location with Weatherfield residents.

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV1 at 8pm.
