Strictly Come Dancing is back this weekend as the couples celebrate 100 years of the BBC with some iconic tunes. Molly Rainford and her professional partner Carlos Gu have sat comfortably near the top of the leaderboard since day one. Pro dancer and Dancing With The Stars expert, Gary Edwards, opened up about the young presenter’s advantage.

Actress and singer Molly may be the youngest in the competition but she has proven that she is in it to win it.

The star has nailed all of her performances so far, having been given plenty of positive comments from the judges.

This weekend she will be dancing her Couples’ Choice to the Grange Hill theme tune and she is excited to give it everything she’s got.

Expert Gary Edwards told Express.co.uk how Molly was “on the list” to lift the Glitterball Trophy this year.

He explained: “She has been consistently very good and that next notch up, it could very easily happen for her.

“I think they are pretty well-placed by now, they are hovering but hovering at a very good level.

“You have got to give it everything all the time, from the moment they walk on to when they are talking to the judges, to when they walk off.”

He said her advantage was that she “portrays positivity” and always throws herself into every dance without question.

He added: “She’s like sunshine. You know she’s going to have fun and she’s going to give it 150 per cent.

“If she did go wrong I would totally forgive it because she gives 150 per cent.

“If someone went wrong and they were only giving 20 per cent that’s not as forgivable for me.”

As a result, Molly could be looking at a place in the final and Gary also praised her mentality.

“She’s just going for it,” he said. “When you are first learning it’s so easy to say ‘Step forward on your left foot’.

“But it takes a little while to click in because you never have to think about it.

“Your brain has to calculate and it makes it quite complicated.

“The youngest ones [in the competition] are just going to do it and not overthink it.

“I think with Molly, she’s not overthinking it, she is just doing it.”

At the moment Molly is fifth in line to win the series with odds of 14/1, according to bookmaker William Hill.

Following his sizzling salsa last week, cameraman Hamza Yassin is currently the bookies’ favourite.

He has odds of 2/1 and Tony Kenny, Head of Sponsorship PR at William Hill, said: “Hamza has turned out to be a bit of a dark horse as the series progressed – I would certainly keep an eye on him if he keeps doing routines like that.”

Molly’s dance partner Carlos took to Instagram to praise Molly for all her hard work so far.

He said: “I wanna say a big thank you to @mollyrainford, you have been transformed incredibly, 4 weeks hard work and your determination has really inspired me. What a young Girl!

“To all the girls out there, have a dream, work hard and your dream will come true one day.

“I am super appreciated of all of you who showed ur support and love. There’s nothing better than having each and one of you cheering for us.

“We ensure you we will do our best and having love and kind. @bbcstrictly Xxx” [Sic]
