My Mum, Your Dad stars Roger Hawes and Janey Smith have revealed that they are ‘not missing the chance to see each other’ despite living on opposite sides of the country.
Roger, 59, from Derbyshire, found love with blonde bombshell Janey from West Sussex on the ITV dating show hosted by Davina McCall.
Appearing on Good Morning Britain on Monday, the pair confirmed that Roger is going above and beyond to visit Janey.
Talking to hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley about his trips to see the stunning blonde, Roger said: “She lives the other side of the country to me, but it's not an issue; I just get in my car and smile all the way down.”
Janey also gushed: “We’ve seen each other every weekend since the show; we've not missed the chance.”
Roger gained popularity on the ITV dating show dubbed ‘Love Island for single parents’ after opening up about finding love again after his wife, Joanna, passed away from cancer 18 months ago.
The postman told how his wife went to sleep one night and never woke up again. Fans of the show were moved as they watched the dad’s first attempt at dating in 34 years, with him falling for gorgeous Janey over the course of the two-week series.
The TV star also opened up about the show's twist, which revealed that it was not relationship experts overseeing their experience on the show, but in fact, their children.
Speaking about the importance of getting his kids' approval, the father-of-three said: “It was brilliant for us to sit and see that – they were watching us, and we couldn't see them.”
The popular couple says they are also experiencing newfound fame since appearing on the show, with the pair now being recognised while out and about.
Talking about being mobbed during a recent trip to London, Janey said: “We felt funny yesterday, didn’t we? We had to have a lie down.
"We were in London, walking through Victoria Station, and people were just running up and grabbing hold.”
Roger added: “We met this other lady who said it was really nice to meet you because it’s such a romantic story, so that was nice.”
It comes as the love-up pair delighted fans after confirming that they were “still going strong.”
Alongside a picture of the happy couple posing on a sandy beach with big smiles, Roger said: "It’s been hard to keep it a secret, but the wait is finally over – me and the beautiful @janeybombshell are still going strong and have never been better since."
Touchingly, he added: "We couldn’t be happier together, and it wouldn’t be possible without @itv."
