The sixth episode of NCIS’s 20th season could blindside fans with a shocking twist thanks to some startling revelations in the latest promo. As the hit CBS drama continues to crack Washington’s toughest military mysteries each week, new team leader Alden Parker (played by Gary Cole) may have to launch an investigation into his own agents.

Agent Parker could be betrayed by one of his own in the next startling instalment of NCIS.

The hit series will return next Monday for the sixth episode of its 20th season, entitled The Good Fighter.

A brand new teaser trailer following this week’s episode has now confirmed the NCIS team may have to uncover an enemy spy who has been hiding within their ranks.

The promo begins with the whole team investigating a murder scene which has been hastily tidied up.

Agent Jessica Knight (Katrina Law) remarks: “There’s blood here. Looks like somebody tried to clean it.”

“Someone was covering their tracks,” Agent Nicolas Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) replies.

However, it appears the team has even more pressing concerns to deal with within their very midst.

When Dr Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen) inspects the body, he discovers fingerprints belonging to an NCIS agent.

Forensic Scientist Kasie Hines later informs Parker: “There’s a mole in the NCIS.”

Fans will undoubtedly be spending much of next week’s episode trying to determine the identity of the mole, and whether or not they’ve met them before.

Prime suspects could include Agents Torres and Knight, the newest members of the NCIS family.

Moreover, Parker himself has only just joined the team following the departure of Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) last season.

Despite his experience with the FBI, Parker could be playing a long-con to dismantle the Naval investigators from the inside.

Plus, fans definitely shouldn’t rule out Agent Tim McGee (Sean Murray) or even Director Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll), despite their years of service with the task force.

Rumours are currently circulating around a potential exit for series regular Rocky happening at some point in the current season.

Exposing him as a mole could be a fitting yet devastating way to usher him out the door.

His departure could also pave the way for long-standing agent McGee to take his place as director, or perhaps introduce a new cast member to shake up the series even more.

At one point in the trailer, it appears the whole team has raced to the whereabouts of a potential suspect, so hopefully, one of NCIS’s core agents won’t be exposed as an enemy spy.

Even so, the series has become infamous for some shocking twists over the years, so fans shouldn’t be surprised if they see one of their favourite characters in a startling new light after next week’s episode.

NCIS season 20 continues Mondays on CBS in the USA. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
