Neighbours star lashes out at show bosses after finale 'snub' as last ever episode airs | The Sun

A NEIGHBOURS star has lashed out at show bosses after being 'snubbed' from the finale.

The last ever episode of the Aussie soap aired Down Under on Thursday and airs tonight on Channel 5 in the UK.

Neighbours is coming to an end after 37 years and the finale saw iconic characters like Scott and Charlene, Harold Bishop and Mike Young returning to Ramsay Street.

Other famous faces who had starred on the show also made guest appearances including Margot Robbie, Delta Goodrum, Natalie Imbruglia and Holly Valance.

However, Craig McLachlan – who played Henry Ramsay for two years in the late 80s- wasn't part of proceedings, and the actor has shared his unhappiness on social media.

In a video, the 56-year-old actor sat in front of a piano and said: "Hey, everyone. I'm calling it, I'm declaring national bib and brace overalls day in honour of Henry Ramsay and, of course, to celebrate the Aussie super soap Neighbours.

"Do you know, I got the call to join the show way back in 1986. An exciting call that changed my life.

"A call that I'll be forever grateful for. Good memories, good people."

He then pretended to receive a message on an earpiece and added: "Listen, I know time's tight. We've got a special guest via video link. Let me just see if they're there."

The video then cut to Craig dressed in character as Henry – complete with wig and overalls – while outside in the garden.

"Hey, I used to cop a lot of flack about this hair, but the mullet's back! And the mullet's here to stay, and so is Henry Ramsay."

"Thanks again. I've got to finish this. Love you guys."

Craig's video comes after it was revealed the actor felt he was shunned due to sexual assault charges which he was cleared of two years ago.

A spokeswoman for the actor said: “Henry’s dead mother is being reincarnated for the final episode — but cancel culture won’t allow her son Henry to appear or even be acknowledged.

“What Craig and his partner have endured over the past four-and-a-half years — only to come out the other side and be confronted by, among other things, the attempted permanent erasing of his part in Neighbours history — is devastating.

“Craig was not invited to take part in the closing episode or indeed to contribute in any way to the end of Neighbours.

"Henry was, and continues to be, an all-time Neighbours favourite, a character Craig loves to this day.

"Craig happily and enthusiastically contributed to a number of Neighbours celebratory milestones over the years and was always so thrilled to be invited to partake.”

In 2020, the father-of-one, whose partner is opera conductor Vanessa Scammell, was cleared in Australia of seven charges of assault and indecent assault on four women dating back to 2014 when he was in Australian production of The Rocky Horror Show.

Two months ago he abandoned a case against several media organisations who had reported on the initial allegations, as well as one of the original complainants.

The final episode of Neighbours airs tonight at 9pm on Channel 5.
