Netflix star unrecognisable eight years after shock exit and hitting out at show pay | The Sun

NETFLIX actor Matt McGorry has appeared in several hit shows on the streaming platform.

Matt has starred in Orange is the New Black, Archive 81 and How to Get Away with Murder.

Matt's string of Netflix shows really showcases his diverse acting talents, from playing physically fit former correctional officer John Bennett in OITNB to smart cutthroat law student Asher Millstone in How to Get Away with Murder.

The actor recently shared a photo with his Shondaland How to Get Away with Murder co-star and Harry Potter actor Alfred Enoch, and fans are here for it.

Although looking different than his former OITNB on-screen counterpart the star could be seen smiling in the photo, happy to be with his friend.

He captioned the image as a throwback and said: "Grateful to have spent time with this old chap in London last summer. (Although this picture is from a month before the pandemic hit the US)

Another fellow How to Get Away with Murder star Viola Davis commented: "Aaaahh!!!! Beauties!!!!"

Matt has also been linked to conversations by several Orange is the New Black castmembers about not being compensated adequately for their time working on the show.

His co-star on the show Kimiko Glenn who played Brook Soso, has been vocal about the low pay on that programme and during the current SAG-AFTRA strike, fans were reminded of her speaking out in 2020 about the wage.

At the time, Matt commented on a post made by Kimiko and said: "I kept my day job the entire time I was on the show because it paid better than the mega-hit TV show we were on."

Now the actor uses his social media platform to share his passions and advocate for causes.

He currently has 1.6 million Instagram followers and gains thousands of likes and hundreds of comments typically on his posts.

The star previously told Medium that he was putting his mental health first and letting go of some of the body pressures placed on actors in the industry.

He said: "I've gained quite a bit of weight. I mean, I've really let go. And as a result, my health has been impacted. I have a healthier relationship with my body than ever before.

"I've let go of internalised fatphobia and all correlating notions that I have to look a certain way to deserve love, dignity, and respect.

"Yeah, I've really let go of the myths and bulls**t around what my body is supposed to look like. And I'm more joyful, more free, and more fulfilled because of it."

In a recent post, he can be seen in a vest promoting products from the erotic gift company Love Honey.

His most recent Netflix credit was appearing as Mark Higgins in Archive 81, which followed an archivist hired to restore a collection of tapes that were linked to a dangerous cult.

He also appeared in one episode of Big Shot on Disney +.
