Night Coppers viewers LIVID as mum gets so drunk in the street police are forced to seize her baby | The Sun

NIGHT Coppers viewers were left LIVID after a mum got so drunk in the street the police were forced to seize her baby.

The Channel 4 show follows the Brighton police force's night team who patrol the city's hectic night life scene.

This week's episode saw Afghanistan veteran PC Theo take charge of a baby after its mother was arrested for being drunk.

The situation arose after the police were called to a former couple having a physical fight and argument on the promenade.

The man was arrested but soon after, the woman started arguing with the police and one of them said: "She's all over the place with a little baby."

The copper added in a piece to camera: "I don't think you see many babies out at night, so when you do, eyebrows are raised and people start asking questions."

She was then arrested for being drunk in charge of a child.

Viewers were horrified by the scenes, with one writing on Twitter: "Taking no responsibility for what happened to her child tonight."

Another tweeted: "Policing #Brighton at night is quite something. That poor baby."

A third added: "Yeah, I'm not thinking you've got much concern for your daughter. More likely embarrassed to be on TV being shown up for the bad parent you are."

At the end of the episode, it was revealed the woman had received a caution from police.

It left some viewers at home furious, with one raging: "OFGS Just a caution for the mother, probably no follow up for the suicidal guy, and possession of an offensive weapon for the rucksack guy."

Another shared: "Mum just given a caution, christ #nightcoppers."

Last week, the team had a totally different sort of problem to deal with after finding an injured badger at the side of the road.

The badger was clearly in a bad way, and the officers decided the best thing to do was move it into the neighbouring field so it wasn't hit by other vehicles.

Once they had safely moved the badger, they carried on with their patrol, but viewers were furious that they left it behind.

Night Coppers airs Tuesdays at 9pm on Channel 4.
