Nikita displayed a ‘lack of confidence’ and felt ‘shame’ over dance-off routine

Nikita Kanda Says Her Dance On Saturday Is Dedicated To Her Mother

Last weekend saw the Strictly Come Dancing Sunday night results show return and BBC Asian Network radio presenter Nikita Kanda and her professional dance partner Gorka Marquez found themselves in the bottom two.

They joined actor, comedian and presenter Les Dennis and his partner Nancy Xu, who ultimately left the BBC dance competition.

While Nikita was unanimously saved by all four judges, according to a body language, she displayed “a lack of confidence”.

Darren Stanton, who has spoken on behalf of Betfair, revealed that while he “did think Nikita and Gorka would struggle in the competition initially,” viewers “could see how important it meant for them to stay” when it was announced that they were in the bottom two.

He explained after analysing Nikita’s body language: “Nikita was nearly in tears.”

From his perspective, she exhibited “an expression of feeling shame,” by dipping her head down and moving it to the right.

Nikita and Gorka were second from the bottom on the judge’s leaderboard after their first two dances, a Waltz to Run To You by Whitney Houston in week one and their Charleston to Single Ladies by Beyoncé in the second week.

Despite Nikita’s second dance being dedicated to her mum and other single parents, this didn’t seem to convince fans to vote at home.

Darren continued: “I could tell she felt she let Gorka down.” Given that they were saved by the judges, he believes that “she really needs to up her game”.

Finding themselves in the bottom two could also be because of “a lack of confidence from Nikita,” he explains.

Even though “Gorka is doing what he can to give her a boost,” if she doesn’t improve this Saturday, they could end up fighting for their place in the competition once again.

Nikita and Gorka are set to perform another upbeat routine, which could help them to secure their spots on the beloved BBC show.

They will be dancing a Jive to the song Kids In America from Clueless as part of Strictly’s annual Movie Week special.

Viewers will need to tune in to see which of the remaining 14 couples will impress the judges with their movie-inspired routines and who might be in danger of going home next.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturday and Sunday nights on BBC One.
