Nolan sister forced to live in rented house and work at 69 despite selling millions of records | The Sun

MAUREEN Nolan has been forced to live in a rented house and continue working at 69, despite her career successes.

Singer Maureen may have sold millions of records with her famous sisters, but she isn't set for life financially.

The Irish star claimed she cannot afford to retire, has no pension set up and was the victim of rip-off merchants in her youth.

And, despite the stressful ordeal, Maureen has said that while she's "broke", she's trying to treat her situation with "humour".

Her money woes began when she divorced her husband Richie Hoyle in 2016, pushing the pair to sell their house.

But it soon became apparent she couldn't afford to buy a new place, and wasn't able to secure a mortgage due to her age.

Maureen told The Mirror: "I never thought I would ever rent. It would be nice to have just enough money to say, ‘OK, I’m out of here, showbiz-wise.’ But I don’t have that.

“We made millions, well, somebody made millions, but not us. I think we were ripped off a bit along the way.

“We were probably a bit young and naive. We were very happy and we trusted people to handle our affairs. Looking back, that might be where it went awry. I sometimes think, ‘What happened to that?’

“Showbusiness is feast or famine. When you’re earning, you’re earning a lot, but then you can be out of work for six months. Of course, I worry about money and, the older I get, the more I worry."
