Patsy Kensit has confirmed that her stint on EastEnders has come to an end, and, though we knew it was coming, we can’t help being upset that she won’t be around for much longer.
While Patsy’s character Emma Harding will still be on screen for a while yet, the former Emmerdale actress has waved goodbye to the Square and is heading on to pastures new.
Patsy joined the soap as Lola Pearce’s (Danielle Harold) mum earlier this year, after Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) made it his mission to track her down.
Since arriving in Walford, she has learned of daughter Lola’s incurable brain tumour, and is determined to make the most of their time together for however long they have left.
At first, Lola wanted nothing to do with her, but after explaining why she abandoned her as a child, she decided to let her mum back in.
Since then, she has been splashing the cash to treat her daughter and new husband Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick), something which Billy says won’t wash with Lola.

Patsy took to Instagram to reveal that her stint on the BBC soap was over, posting pictures of herself boarding a flight ‘to the heat’.
In the caption of the photo, she thanked the team at EastEnders for welcoming her and being so kind.
‘Cannot thank my amazing cast members at the simply awesome experience I’ve had working on [EastEnders] for being so kind and loving to me.’ She gushed.
‘Big thank you to the BBC the producers writers crew and the EE family . Costume makeup AD’s Ang at the help desk.. Jamie and Danielle for making me laugh my a*se off everyday. I love you both… Emma Barton.. so so many people…. A new adventure begins’.
Patsy also mentioned her ongoing health issue within the post, letting fans know that she is finally in recovery, after receiving a proper diagnosis and antibiotics.
Ever since it was announced that Patsy would be joining the cast of EastEnders, we knew it would only be a short stint. Even so, we’re gutted to see her go.
Could Emma come back in the future?
