This Morning has been a very different place over the last few days after Phillip Schofield announced that he was leaving the show he had hosted for 21 years.
But now, details have emerged of his return to TV for the first time since his exit from ITV1's flagship daytime programme.
Phil, 61, is due back on telly as the host of the British Soap Awards, although it won't be a return to live TV as the ceremony is set to air on ITV a few days after it takes place.
This year's awards will be at The Lowry in Manchester on Saturday, 3 June, but will be pre-recorded to air on Tuesday, 6 June at 8pm – Phil's first time back on TV since his final This Morning episode on Thursday, 18 May.
Each year, the awards alternate between venues in the south and the north, with shows including EastEnders, Coronation Street and Emmerdale vying for recognition in categories such as best soap, best leading performer and villain of the year.
Phil announced he was leaving This Morning on Saturday, 20 May with immediate effect amid reports of a rift with co-star Holly Willoughby, who had long been a close friend.
Holly is staying on at the show but is on an extended half term break and is due to return on Monday, 5 June with a rota of guest presenters filling in until then and a permanent replacement for Phil yet to be announced.
Phil's exit also came after his brother, Timothy Schofield, was jailed for 12 years for child sex offences.
In a statement announcing he was stepping down, Phil made reference to coming back for the Soap Awards, saying: “I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning. But recently, This Morning itself has become the story.
"Throughout my career in TV – including the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind. I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love.
“So I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future. I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me – especially This Morning’s amazing viewers – and I’ll see you all for the Soap Awards next month.”
Holly said in her own statement: “It’s been over 13 great years presenting This Morning with Phil and I want to take this opportunity to thank him for all of his knowledge, his experience and his humour. The sofa won’t feel the same without him.”
