Piers Morgan makes TV return days after sparking concerns with his health

Piers Morgan returned to TV on Sunday, just two days after he sparked concerns over his watery eyes and tired appearance on his TalkTV show.

As a panellist on Laura Kuenssberg’s Sunday show, alongside Lord Bethell and Carla Denyer, the 58-year-old journalist seemed to be better as he gave his views on the latest news from the Israel-Hamas war to the ongoing Covid enquiry.

Not one to shy away from expressing his opinion, Piers took aim at Boris Johnson, claiming the ex Prime Minister “didn’t care” about the pandemic and also slammed other MPs involved at the time.

“It was a complete disgrace,” he ranted. “The idea that Boris Johnson and Matt Hancock are off making millions of pounds off the back of this catastrophic failure of leadership, in this crucial moment for our country, I find sickening.”

Piers went on to blast the handling of the pandemic as “shameful” and turned to Lord Bethell, who was a minister at the time, if he agreed.

He chimed in: “I agree, our response was slowed by the struggle we had to get Downing Street to focus… Boris Johnson found it difficult to stick to decisions”

Many viewers flocked to Twitter to share their thoughts about his latest TV appearance, with some claiming it felt like his show.

One commented: “Not a fan of Piers Morgan but agree with everything he said on Laura Kuenssberg this morning and he has the guts to say what he feels.”

Another wrote: “Piers Morgan doing a great job as host of ‘Sunday with Laura K’.”

A third added: “Piers Morgan doing a better job than Laura this morning, er, on her own show.

“He’s taking James Bethell (Tory Minister during Covid) to task after she’s failed to.”

Piers’ appearance comes just days after he sparked concerns with how he looked on his TalkTV show.

While interviewing Jordan Peterson about the conflict between Israel and Hamas, he seemed to have waterey eyes and appeared tired.

Addressing concerns on Twitter after the show, he wrote: “To all concerned viewers (including my mother & sister!) who think I’ve looked less than [100 per cent], I’ve been diagnosed with bronchitis, sinusitis & conjunctivitis – a gloriously vile trifecta of wheezing, sneezing, pink-eyed hell.

“Apologies if my head caused more offence than usual.”

In a second post, Piers went on to say that his LA doctor believed it could be a mild strain of Covid.

He added: “Incidentally, fwiw, my LA doc said he’s recently had 100s of people in with similar symptoms & most tested positive for Covid several weeks before. (I didn’t but he thinks I had it).

“The new strains seem to be mildish on infecion but spark lingering crap for weeks afterwards.”(sic)

Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg airs weekly on BBC One at 9am.
