Rich House Poor House has reportedly been ditched by Channel 5 due to the cost of living crisis.

The popular TV show has been airing since 2017 and has produced some incredible real-life stories.

However, bosses are thought to have made a decision to make a major change to the programme.

The Sun have reported that a pilot show called Old Money New Money is currently being filmed.

It has been suggested that the series will involve a similar experiment where two families from opposite ends of the economic spectrum swap homes for a week to find out about each other’s lives.

The spin-off show will involve two wealthy families, one from old money, the other from new.

An insider told the publication: "If this proves popular it could lead to a full series, which is sure to delight fans of Rich House, Poor House.

"Although it’s a slightly different set-up it’s still based on the same theme of watching how people adjust to a different way of living.

"Now Channel 5 will be hoping this spin-off works just as well.”

The programme will reportedly include a group of people who struck it rich through hard work or a lucky windfall who see what it’s like to live the lifestyle of those who have had their wealth handed to them.

Daily Star has contacted Channel 5 for a comment.

A recent episode of Rich House Poor House saw a struggling single mum broke down after a millionaire offered her a lifeline.

Mum-of-two Billie switched lives with millionaire Mark Harvey and his family.

The two endured each others difficult routines and eventually came face to face.

Mark told her: "If you really want to transform your life, I'd be willing to work with you, work beside you, whatever it is you need.

"Point you in the right direction, give you training, programmes so that you can find out what it really is you want to do so you don't have to rely on your mum or anyone else and you can stand on your own two feet."
