RICHARD Madeley squirmed today when his Good Morning Britain co-host Susanna Reid showered praise on his replacement Martin Lewis.
The Money Saving Expert has previously filled in for absent Richard, 65, alongside Susanna and is often a hit with viewers.
He appeared on the ITV breakfast programme from home today to discuss Jeremy Hunt becoming Chancellor of the Exchequer, with Susanna giving pal Martin a glowing introduction.
She said: "Your trophy shelf is getting rather crowded and quite right too" as Richard, 65, stiffled a laugh.
Susanna later made no secret of her admiration for financial journalist Martin who won a National Television Award on Thursday in his category of 'telly expert'.
Richard sat stony faced when she added: "Well done. You’re the hero we all need right now and the trophy shelf behind you says it all," while Richard moved the segment along.

But Richard has been met with resistance from some viewers.
One said as he returned to host GMB last week after his summer break: "No contest is it. Ed Balls/Martin Lewis vs out of touch Madeley #GMB must hear the collective groan & sense all the TVs being switched over."
