While he began his successful career as a budding singer on The X Factor, many could argue that it was Rylan's appearance on Celebrity Big Brother that truly catapulted his career. Not only did he win the show, but he also went on to host it's spin-off show for five further years.
Holding the reality show so close to his heart, Rylan has been left 'hurt' as ITV is bringing it back for a revamped series, and has gone a different direction when it comes to presenters. But amid his dismay, the TV personality is focusing on his close relationship with mum Linda.
A source told OK!: "He was a bit hurt they didn’t consider him to come back as he lives and breathes Big Brother, it was a bitter pill to swallow, but he’s very good at picking himself up and brushing himself off.
"Rylan loves working with him mum and there's loads coming up. She's a great support network and it really takes his mind of it when they do shows like Gogglebox together, they're so close."
Rylan and Linda, who recently suffered a horrific fall during a trip abroad with her son, are fan favourites when appearing on Celebrity Gogglebox together. While she also often appears on his Radio 2 show on Saturdays.
The star's close bond with Linda has been well documented, as he often involves her in his work since rising to fame – anf features her on his social media.
While she has been a strong support network for him too, especially following his high-profile split from husband-of-six-years Dan Neal in 2021, which saw Linda look after her heartbroken son as he struggled mentally.
Talking with OK! about the ordeal in an interview last year, Linda admitted that Rylan, who is 6ft 4 and plummeted to 9st at the time, was sleeping in her bed at the time.
"It was really hard last year. He’s got this beautiful home, but he was here with me. He couldn’t sleep so I said, “Get in my bed with me.” I didn’t know what he was thinking of doing. He’d lost so much weight, he was just staring all the time. I was crying all day with him, and I was forcing him to eat."
Rylan met his ex through Big Brother, after Dan appeared as a contestant on the civilian version of the show in 2013.
Speaking about the show's return during an appearance on Loose Women recently, he said: "I mean, obviously, Big Brother was a massive part of my life. It was my favourite thing in the world to do. For the past five years when it's been off, I've been very vocal saying it should come back.
"I suppose naively and, erm, stupidly to a point, I just thought 'I've been there for six or seven years… I love the show so much'. I just sillily presumed I would be asked back," continued Rylan, before joking that he has even 'married and divorced a housemate'.
