Get the tissues ready, we’ve got some devastating news. Evelyn Plummer’s (Maureen Lipman) beloved dog, Cerberus, is going to fall unwell in Coronation Street!
Why is it an animal getting poorly always hits us so hard?
Cerberus has been Evelyn’s companion ever since we met her back in 2018. The beloved pet has become as iconic as other Weatherfield animals but next week, tragedy strikes!
After popping into the café with Cerberus to see Roy (David Neilson), Evelyn is later concerned when she realises her dog hasn’t eaten any dinner.
In the week, with Cerberus still sick, a concerned Tyrone (Alan Halsall), insists they take him to the vets.
When the vet suggests it might be food poisoning, a guilty Roy reveals that he dropped an Eccles cake in the café and fears Cerberus may have eaten it.
Both angry and worried, Evelyn tells Roy that if anything happens to Cerberus, she’ll never forgive him.
Later on, the vet breaks the news to Evelyn that Cerberus is suffering from kidney failure!
But will he make a swift recovery?
This storyline may be the start of Maureen Lipman’s temporary exit from the show, which is happening so she can perform in the production of Rose.
