Fate: The Winx Saga has a loyal fanbase who couldn’t wait for the fantasy show’s return after its premiere last year. Netflix quickly gave The Winx Saga a season two renewal which saw Bloom (played by Abigail Cowen), Musa (Elisha Applebaum), Beatrix (Sadie Soverall), Stella (Hannah van der Westhuysen) and Terra (Eliot Salt) make a comeback to Alfea. Those who are already acquainted with the original story though knew that someone was missing.

Why was Flora not in Fate: The Winx Saga’s season 1?

Fate: The Winx Saga is based on the Italian cartoon Winx Club which made its debut in 2004.

While most of the characters who were in the animated series appear in Netflix’s first series, both Flora and Terra were missing.

When Terra is introduced, she briefly mentions she has a cousin called Flora but there is no talk of her again for the rest of the season.

So fans were thrilled when season two came out on Friday, September 16, finally introducing Flora to the cast.

She is played by actress Paulina Chávez who opened up to Express.co.uk about being late to the Winx Saga party.

When asked why her sassy character didn’t feature in the first series, Chávez clarified that the Netflix show is an “adaptation” rather than a straightforward reboot, meaning not everything would be the same.

Chávez said: “I don’t know, I really don’t know [why Flora wasn’t in season one] but I do know that this is an adaptation of The Winx Club.

“So we have new characters, new storylines, even some of our beloved characters from the cartoon are a little bit different.”

Chávez added: “And so that was that, and I’m so happy that Flora has come in this next season and everybody seems to love her so much, that’s amazing.”

Before it was announced that The Winx Saga would be returning for a second outing, Bloom star Abigail Cowen said that she hoped Flora would be welcomed in the new episodes.

She told The Wrap: “Flora is actually not in our series … In the first season, she’s not.

“Eliot’s character is actually Terra, who was created specifically for the show.

“If we are lucky enough to get a second season, I think Flora would be brought in.”

The Winx Saga hasn’t been confirmed for a third season by Netflix just yet.

Given the popularity of the series though, it does seem more than likely it will be back for new episodes.

If it does return, fans shouldn’t expect a third season to begin until late next year.

Fate: The Winx Saga is available to watch on Netflix.
