Star Wars: Visions Season 2 trailer
The annual Star Wars Celebration event was held last month and with it came the surprising announcement that three new movies are hitting cinemas in the coming years.
Perhaps the best part of the news, however, was that Rey Skywalker star Daisy Ridley will be returning to the series. Fans have begun speculating that this will be the tenth episode in the saga – Star Wars Episode X – and will show off Rey bringing order to the Jedi once more.
Precious few details have been revealed about the new movie, but Kathleen Kennedy – the president of Lucasfilm – told gave IGN some key insights into what fans can expect from the comeback movie.
Kennedy revealed: “Well we’re 15 years out from Rise of Skywalker, so we’re post-war, post-First Order and the Jedi are in disarray.”
At the end of The Rise of Skywalker, Rey buried the lightsabers of twins Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa before showing off her yellow-bladed weapon and announcing her new title: Rey Skywalker.

Considering Rey stole the ancient Jedi texts from Luke back in The Last Jedi, it has been assumed she’ll be working hard to bring the Jedi back into power in the coming movies.
Kennedy confirmed as much, adding: “She’s attempting to rebuild the Jedi Order, based on the books, based on what she promised Luke, so that’s where we’re going … certainly, the spirit of what he [Luke Skywalker] represents to her [Rey Skywalker] is going to be significant.”
The Lucasfilm boss’ comments suggest Rey hasn’t got very far in 15 years, however. But the fact that she mentions Jedi being in disarray suggests the warrior has made some new Jedi allies along the way.

Perhaps, then, over the past 15 years, Rey has been searching for Force-sensitive people and children in an attempt to rebuild the Jedi Order once again; a plan Luke Skywalker tried and failed to do decades before.
However, bringing new Force-users into the fold is where the biggest issues usually begin in Star Wars.
Traditionally, where there are Jedi using the Force for good, there are also Sith Lords using the Force for their evil bidding.
Kennedy even gave some insight into this, adding: “There’s a lot of discussion around: ‘Who are the Jedi? What are they doing? What’s the state of the galaxy?'”
While she wouldn’t go into any further details about the upcoming movie, she did break her silence on whether Luke Skywalker will be a key part of the ongoing storyline.
“I don’t know if we’ll spend a lot of time in flashbacks,” she said. “Or Force ghosts or things like that.”
