Strictly Come Dancings Amanda Abbington begs be kind after hate from trolls

Sherlock star, Amanda Abbington, had emerged as one of the favourites to win Strictly Come Dancing this year, but in a moment that hit the fans hard, the actress decided to leave the competition.

With sublime rhythm and a will to improve, the 51-year-old had won the respect of the judges, regularly featuring in the upper echelons of the leaderboard, alongside her partner, Giovani Pernice. However, it appears their hard work came at a cost, with the pair reportedly clashing behind the scenes.

The pair failed to feature in week five of the competition, with the producers, claiming that the celebrity couldn't participate due to 'Medical reasons' and would make her grand return in the next show.

However, while fans had high hopes that they'd see their hero back in action, her eagerly-anticipated comeback never came. The bosses confirmed: “Amanda Abbington is unable to continue in Strictly Come Dancing and has decided to withdraw from the competition.”

Sadly, it appears that online trolling could be the reason behind her shock exit. In a statement on Boogaloo Radio, she said: "My thing at the moment is 'be kind', it's always been 'be kind'."

"It's, 'You don't know what someone else is going through; you have no idea what's going on in their life, so before you say anything hateful and cruel, just check yourself'.

She continued: "It takes so much more energy to be hateful, to be horrible, where you could just not say anything or say something positive.

"We're living in a world where the laptop and the phone and social media allows you to say whatever you want without any recrimination, and you have no idea what that comment could do to someone – it could push someone over the edge to do something, and God knows we have to look after each other."

Her words come in an era in which mental health is at the forefront of everyone's minds. Therefore, having expressed her feelings on the matter, she hopes to encourage her audience to treat others how they would like to be treated themselves.

Now, despite her journey on Strictly having come to an abrupt and unfortunate end, she's using her platform to push a message that everyone needs to hear.
