Strictly: Angela Rippon meets her partner in Blackpool
Strictly Come Dancing fans are getting behind the show’s oldest-ever contestant Angela Rippon in the hopes that she will make it to the show’s Blackpool week to bring her Come Dancing stint full circle.
Angela, 78, presented Strictly’s predecessor Come Dancing from the Tower Ballroom in Blackpool from 1988 to 1991 and again in 1998, and the fact that the significance of possibly dancing there isn’t lost on viewers.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, a user called @jamiehowarth0 wrote: “Campaign to vote Angela Rippon all the way to Blackpool to bring it truly full circle #StrictlyComeDancing,”
@levi__nienow echoed:” Let’s rally behind Angela Rippon and take her all the way to Blackpool! It’s time to bring the #StrictlyComeDancing journey full circle.”
Meanwhile, @Dawnf1 chimed in: “Well, it’s all about Nigel Harman for me. But I really hope Angela Rippon gets to Blackpool. Les Dennis should be first out. And Layton will probably win. #StrictlyComeDancing

Blackpool week normally takes place about halfway through the competition and this year, it will be on November 18.
Angela herself acknowledged the importance of Blackpool to her when she headed to the Tower ballroom to meet her professional partner who was unveiled as Kai Widdrington.
In the VT before she met him she said: “I presented Come Dancing from the Tower Ballroom in Blackpool all those years ago.
“In a way, this is very much a full circle for me. I’m now about to dance in Strictly Come Dancing and right now I’m off to meet my partner.”
As she and Kai got to know each other, he also revealed the importance of Blackpool to him personally.
“I’ve never got to dance with my celebrity partner at Blackpool so as they say third times a charm,” he said.
