Robot Wars presenter Angela Scanlon reacts as robot 'blows up'
Irish broadcaster Angela Scanlon has opened up about a memory that still “haunts” her to this day ahead of her Strictly Come Dancing debut.
Speaking to House Beautiful earlier this summer, Angela recalled growing up in a “busy” house and addressed the “good room” being an Irish “thing”.
Speaking about the “good room” in her family home, she shared: “It was basically a living room that nobody ever went in that was reserved for if a priest came round, or a funeral or maybe Christmas time – like the good china.
“It had mustard pelmets on the window, which sound absolutely disgusting but at the time I thought were fabulous, and really comfy couches in a similar fabric – again overkill, but somehow it worked.”
The Ask Me Anything host continued to reflect on the interiors of her family home and noted how she was one of four girls.

“We were on rotation sharing bedrooms when I was a child so I don’t really remember the décor, but I do remember in my teenage years painting my room a bright turquoise,” she reflected.
“It was a little dormer room so the turquoise was everywhere, ceiling to floor – it was disgusting and still haunts me!”
Angela, who hosts Your Home Made Perfect, will be swapping interiors for ballroom dancing in a matter of weeks when Strictly returns to BBC One.

She will be competing against the likes of Adam Thomas, Angela Rippon, Les Dennis, Zara McDermott and Ellie Leach on the show.
As it stands, she is the bookmakers’ favourite to be crowned this year’s winner alongside EastEnders’ actor Bobby Brazier.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Angela Scanlon will likely head into the upcoming series of Strictly as the most popular pick with punters to go all the way.
“Our traders have already slashed her odds considerably, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see her priced even shorter by the time she takes to the dancefloor.”
Strictly Come Dancing – The Professionals Tour is hitting the road once again in May 2024, with a star-studded line-up. Dianne Buswell, Graziano Di Prima, Gorka Marquez and Nancy Xu are just a few of the names hitting cities around the country, including London, Cardiff, Liverpool and Brighton to name just a few.
The red-headed beauty has been updating her social media followers about taking part in Strictly.
She recently admitted: “Even though I feel a little bit sick at the thought, I actually think it’s widely exciting.
“I need to come down, I don’t know how people relax after doing that. It’s begun.”
Strictly Come Dancing lands on BBC One on September 16.
