BBC Breakfast: Bobby Brazier on his fitness after Strictly
Strictly Come Dancing’s Bobby Brazier has revealed that his waist has shrunk to tiny proportions during his time on the competition. The 20-year-old actor, who plays Freddie Slater in EastEnders, has made it to the quarter finals of the show with his pro partner Dianne Buswell.
The pair appeared on BBC Breakfast to talk about their journey on the show so far and Bobby admitted that it is affecting his physical appearance. “I’m so much fitter and stronger. I’ve got a 27 inch waist now. That’s tiny. It was something like 31 inches before,” he told hosts Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty.
Dianne responded: “I make sure he eats a lot as well.” This led Bobby reveal he had ordered in a stack of pancakes ahead of starting rehearsals for their Salsa to I’ve Had The Time Of My Life from Dirty Dancing for this week’s Musicals Week.
Explaining why he has lost so much weight Dianne said they can often train from 9am in the morning until 8pm at night with only Sunday off. The couple have only been in the dance off once so far in the competition.
They are still riding high after securing their place in this weekend’s quarter final with a Couple’s Choice performance to This Woman’s Work last Saturday, which they performed in tribute to Bobby’s late mother Jade Goody. His father Jeff Brazier broke down in tears as he watched the performance.

The proud dad, 44, could not contain his emotions as he watched the Strictly Come Dancing star take to the dancefloor with his dance partner Dianne Buswell. Tears could be seen rolling down Jeff’s cheek as he watched on from the crowd and placed his arm around his youngest son Freddie Brazier.
Following the emotional routine, host Claudia Winkleman asked Bobby: “What a beautiful dance. What did that mean for you during rehearsals and in front of your dad and your brother… the whole audience?”
Bobby replied: “I don’t what to say. I just know how blessed I am. I have beautiful friends and a beautiful family. I’m here. I’ve got a beautiful partner.
“I get to dance to my favourite song and make people feel a story because we felt a story.” It’s something that I’ll never forget.”
Viewers flocked to social media and commented on the heartbreaking performance where the amateur dancer honoured his late mum, Jade, who sadly died at the age of 27 from cervical cancer in 2009.

There are only five celebrities left in the show at this stage. Alongside Bobby, Casualty star Nigel Harman, tennis legend Annabel Croft, former Corontion Street star Ellie Leach and West End star Layton Williams are all hoping to make it through.
While Ellie is currently the favourite to win there is some good news for Bobby as data compiled by casinos.win shows that out of all the previous winners of the show, six of them were actors and half of those were from EastEnders. The 2004 winner Jill Halfpenny played undercover policewoman Kate Mitchell in the programme from 2002 until 2005.
The 2010 winner Kara Tointon played Dawn Swann in the soap from 2005 to 2009. Meanwhile, 2021 champion Rose Ayling-Ellis played Frankie Lewis from 2020-2022. These statistics also bode well for Nigel Harman, who played Den Watts long long-lost son Dennis Rickman in the long-running soap between 2003 and 2005 until his character was killed off.
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One on Saturday at 7.30pm.
