Strictlys Dianne Buswell receives moving apology from family hours before final

Dianne Buswell’s dad wishes her luck for the show

Dianne Buswell shared an emotional post on Instagram just hours before she performed on the BBC Strictly Come Dancing Final. The 34-year-old, who joined the series in 2017, danced with Eastenders star Bobby Brazier.

Dianne shared the screenshot of a text message on Instagram stories with her 984,000 followers. She captioned the image: “I would have loved nothing more than you both here but I have you always in my thoughts.”

The text message was from her father and it read: “Dot it’s only a few hours before the biggest concert of the year, strictly come dancing 2023. I’m sorry Mum and I can’t be there for you, I’m so proud of the way you have danced towards the finals.”

The message finished off by saying: “Tonight is your night. Go BOBBY AND DIANNE. I love you more daddy.”

Dianne also added a trophy emoji and “thanks dad” to the image. Dianne and Bobby were joined in the final show by Coronation Street star Ellie Leach and actor Layton Williams.

Dianne was last in the Strictly final in 2018 with Joe Sugg, a YouTuber who she’s now in a relationship with.

Whilst they didn’t win she has said that lifting the trophy this year with Bobby, 20, would be “magical”.

The live finale saw the remaining three couples perform a trio of dances. Bobby and Dianne performed their show dance to a La La Land Medley.

They also revisited their samba from earlier in the competition to Candi Staton’s Young Hearts Run Free.

For their third dance, the couple performed their emotional couple’s choice routine again to This Woman’s Work by Maxwell. Bobby dedicated the contemporary dance to his late mother, Jade Goody.

Speaking after the first performance of the dance, head judge Shirley Ballas said she was “emotional” praising the performance by saying it was: “most beautiful true movements through the body as you danced it through your heart”.

However, Bobby and Dianne missed out on lifting the Glitterball Trophy as Ellie and Vito won the competition.
