Strictlys Graziano Di Prima shares emotional reason dad saw him dance live once

Zara and Graziano quickstep to Anyone For You

Strictly Come Dancing professional Graziano Di Prima has revealed the emotional reason why his father has only seen him perform live once on the hit show.

The 29-year-old dancer, who is partnered with Zara McDermott on this year’s series, said his Italian family have only made it to the live show on one occasion despite him being on the competition for five years.

The series regular made his debut on the show in 2016 alongside radio presenter Vick Hope and went on to be partnered with Judi Love, Kym Marsh and of course Zara.

Graziano said his family were a part of the audience at the live show in 2021 when he was partnered with Loose Women star Judi.

Speaking to OK! Magazine, he revealed: “They had to move my dad out of the audience because he was crying too much, he wouldn’t stop.”

The Italian native’s dance partner Zara, 26, said that if the duo win this series, she plans on taking Graziano back to his beloved hometown of Sicily.

She added: “That would honestly be my dream because Graz is just the most amazing person in the world.

“Strictly for someone for someone like him and his family was so out of reach, so I don’t think his family would even believe it if we won.”

The pair found themselves in the bottom two during Movie Week, but after a tense dance-off, all four judges chose to save them.

Instead, radio presenter Nikita Kanda and her dance partner Gorka Marquez were booted out of the competition.

On Monday, Zara admitted she was exhausted after dashing straight from Ibiza Airport to the Strictly Come Dancing rehearsal room.

The presenter is strapped for time, as she’s been filming scenes for her four-part series Inside Ibiza – a close-up look at the famed Spanish party isle which is set to air on BBC Three next year.

Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday at 6.30pm on BBC One.
